"Cruiser Crossing the Rainbow" is the first mission of Rainbow Ride in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The mission's objective is to reach the Rainbow Cruiser.

Layout[edit]

The player first has to take the first magic carpet towards the four spinning platforms, then they should take the magic carpet to the right. After passing the obstacles on its path, the player needs to take the next carpet on the left before the one they are on falls. Remaining on that carpet and passing the spinning platform takes the player to the Rainbow Cruiser. In Super Mario 64, the Power Star is located on the bow of the ship.

In Super Mario 64 DS, the Star is moved further down towards the very end of the bowsprit, and the wind pushes the player away from the Star. However, each character can still obtain it through different ways; Wario can use a Power Flower to transform into Metal Wario and bypass the wind, Luigi can backward-somersault from a carpet to get to the bowsprit, Mario can grab the Power Flower and float to it, and Yoshi can scoot up to reach the Star by running towards the bowsprit and sticking out his tongue when he gets close to the Star.
